Malena BIO

Malena Alba Kuroiwa, was born in 1993 in the Triana neighborhood. She was surrounded by Flamenco since her childhood. As the daughter of a Japanese mother and flamenco dancer and a Sevillian father, she began dancing at the age of six.

When Malena was eight, she began training at the Dance Conservatory in Seville, enriching herself with the disciplines of classical ballet, Spanish dance and Flamenco. As young as nine, she participated in the ballet "El Cascanuteces" in the prestigious  theater, the Maestranza in Seville and a year later in the opera "Fausto". She collaborated in the show “Tierra Interior” by Cristina Hoyos at the by age thirteen.

She continues her training with teachers of great caliber such as Isabel Bayón, Ángel Atienza, Andrés Peña, Adela Campallo, Francis Nuñez and Jose Galván.

At nineteen, Malena began performing in various tablaos in Andalusia and in places like Tokyo, Japan and Seoul, South Korea. Along with her teacher, José Galvan and his company, she tours with the works “Guajiro” and “Dancing Camarón”.

By the time she was twenty-one, her Flamenco career also included teaching, beginning classes at the age of twenty-one.

Currently she continues her Flamenco journey performing shows in Seville and teaching dance.
